The quality of the academic program at Stewart County Middle School on a scale of 1-10, would be a 7, in my opinion. The availability of music, art and other extracurricular activities is sufficient but the enthusiasim to attract the student is not there. The Academic and athletic awards are given. The facilities are improving. The level of parent involvement is extremely low. I would like to see more involvement and interaction with parents, teachers, students, and administrative staff. It seems the focus of the new Administration this year (2007-2008) is discipline. Yes, discipline is a major issue but should not be the main focus. There should be steps in place to ensure that all has been done to help a student improve his or her behavior. I sincerely beleive that Stewart County needs a parent/student advocate. We have too many children dropping out of school and too many getting kicked out because we have teachers that are not trained to deal with children that have extra disciplinary issues. We need someone who is trained and dedicated to making sure each and every one of the students that enter the doors of Stewart County Middle and Stewart-Quitman High School recieve the best eduational opportunity avialable and that the certaintity is there to help the student ahcieve by all means necessary. We don't need inviduals to talk about it. We need individuals to "talk the talk" and to "walk the walk".

I would just like to say that Stewart-Quitman High School/Stewart County Middle School is a GREAT school. A lot of people put out rumor about our school, but that dont stop us, as a royal knight I will get an education. The teachers,administrative, and studnt body has improve a lot of the years I have been there. One way we improve is by getting a Bible class out there. That class help us a lot, because without God and Jesus we are not nothing. Another improvement is our new JROTC Class, the students was very intersting in our new class. As the years come we will improve more. I hope one day parents will start being involve with the schools activities. Iam proud to be apart of Stewart-Quitman High School/Stewart County Middle School.
