The academic programs are highly exaggerated. There is little to no help for students who are struggling. Several students who are required to have constant supervision by an aide are allowed to wander the halls on their own and cause trouble, which endangers themselves and other students.

Shaker's so called "academic excellence" is highly exaggerated. There is no support for students who are struggling. Several students who are supposed to be supervised at all times are allowed to roam the hallways freely and potentially cause injury to themselves and others and destroy school and personal property while their "aides" were relaxing in the teacher's lounge doing nothing. Only the highest achieving students are cared for in this school; the others are ignored and treated as a paycheck by teachers and staff. Students harass and bully each other right in front of the teachers, but very few teachers even try to act. Many teachers also encourage, and sometimes even participate in, this harassment. Hazing of freshmen by the upperclassmen is well known by the teachers and administrative staff, but not prevented and in many cases encouraged. Parents are often cut off and uninvolved from the school, and the parents that try to become involved are often "brushed off" by the administrative staff.

I went to this school and was FAR from happy with my time there. The classes are highly overrated, it if fairly difficult to get help, students are barely ever punished for breaking the rules...
My advice, find a school where your kid can have a better chance at a decent education.

The school puts athletes above all the other students. Unless you have a 100 GPA do not expect to get any recognition what so ever, I have been an low A's student and have never been recognized for anything my entire high school career. Trouble makers are often the most well known in the school and rarely get called out on their actions, some teachers will often encourage it. The staff at shaker is overall horrible and I would never let my child attend Shaker! So if you want your child to have a good education dont let them attend Shaker!
