Riverview has failed in many ways my son and daughter have attended the School. Rules are not enforced. I have seen drugs on the campus, kids walking off campus, skipping school is out of control, some Teachers don't care, the new school building DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING. As a current student at Riverview High School, I am deeply dissatisfied with the leadership and quality of education. With exception of the IB program leadership, there is little to no oversight of the normal population. Drugs, sex, and alcohol are rampant. The county dress code policy is not enforced. Fights are a common occurrence and are often watched by teachers as a form of entertainment. The disrespect of adults by the population of students is overlooked. Teachers often REWARD students for showing up to class, let alone actually participating. This is the saddest excuse for an educational program I have ever witnessed. Putting the cherry on top of the cake is the Cyesis program, a part of the school exclusively for pregnant mothers and their baby-daddies. Their attendance is sub-par, and the school suffers as a result. While it is a fine program with good intentions, about 40 percent of the mothers have more than one child in the program! Something drastic needs to be done in this county dealing with this issue. Of course it will upset the liberals believing in inclusiveness and the goodness of every soul, but the stark reality is that the campus is a war-zone between gangs and mothers alike.
